Cosmetic Dentistry in Boca Raton, FL

Cosmetic Dentistry may involve special procedures that are considered out of the usual dentist appointment. Most people are treated by a dentist every six months for standard teeth cleaning as long as the dentist does not find anything out of the norm that requires additional treatment.

Cosmetic procedures can include braces, veneers, bonding, porcelain crowns, bridges, dental implants, inlays, and overlays. Most of the time, cosmetic dental treatments are for those looking to improve their smile and build their confidence. However, there are cases where we will recommend or suggest additional treatment to be done.

Cosmetic Dentistry Treatments

There are three different types of bridges: traditional, cantilever, and Maryland bonded bridges. Traditional bridges are the most common of the three, this  involves creating a crown for a tooth or implant for a tooth that is missing, and they can either be made of metal or porcelain.

Cantilever bridges are the least common of the three treatments and are used when the adjacent teeth on only one side are missing. Maryland bonded bridges are made of porcelain and are fused to metal or plastic teeth and the gums, which are then supported by metal framework.

Benefits

There are benefits to having dental bridgework, one being that it can restore your smile and also restore one’s ability to chew and speak properly.

Porcelain crowns are something that is custom created to the individual in need of one. They are created in a dental lab and secured onto the individual’s front teeth. Crowns are a cap that is placed over a damaged or weak tooth to provide support to that tooth. Porcelain crowns do give the best and most natural look to them versus other types of crowns, which means they are less noticeable as the other as well. However, with a porcelain crown, there is wearing down over time, but just like anything else, with the proper care, they can last anywhere from 5 years to 15 years, maybe even longer.

For the most natural look, pressed ceramic crowns capped to a porcelain crown are typically the best choice because they offer the most natural color match to a person’s teeth. They also are said to last even longer than an all-porcelain crowns.
