Insurance and Payment Options

Dental services can be valuable investments in your health, and dental insurance can help make them more affordable. At Boca Raton Modern Dentistry, we accept most major dental insurance plans.

What is Dental Insurance?

Dental insurance is a form of health insurance designed to pay a portion of the costs associated with dental care. Dental insurance is useful because it ensures that you can always have the dental service that you need. Simply put, dental insurance provides support by reducing the financial burden of dental care.

What are the Different Categories of Dental Insurance?

Dental insurance is mainly divided into three categories:

Dental PPO (Preferred Provider Organization)

Coverage on this category offers a network feature and gives the user a balance between lower cost and dentist choice. The network feature consists of dentists who accept contracted fees as payment for PPO patients rather than actual fees that they charge to none-PPO patients. Moreover, PPO patients can only visit dentists who are part of the PPO network. In PPO, a patient pays a certain percentage of the reduced rate usually called coinsurance and the plan covers the rest.

Indemnity Dental Insurance

This is a type of fee-for-service plan that lets you see any dentist you wish. The insurance company providing such insurance only pays for care after you submit a claim. This means that you have to pay for the dental service yourself first, then send a claim to the insurance company for reimbursement.

Dental Health Managed Organizations

Dental Health Managed Organizations (DHMOs) are a type of dental insurance plan where members select a primary care dentist from a network of providers. These plans typically have lower premiums and no deductibles, but they require patients to use in-network dentists for their care. DHMOs often focus on preventive and basic services, offering them at reduced or no cost, while more extensive treatments may involve additional fees.

Which Dental Insurance Should One Choose?

Which Dental Insurance Should One Choose?

There is no single “best” dental insurance, as the right plan depends on an individual’s specific needs. Choosing the right dental insurance involves considering your unique dental care requirements. For instance, if your dental health is well-maintained and you’re not prone to complications, a basic dental insurance might be enough. However, if you frequently experience dental issues, opting for a plan that covers a larger portion of dental service costs is advisable. If you’re unsure which dental insurance to select, feel free to ask us for guidance—we’re here to help!
